Legal & Compliance

GST registration, filed and followed up.

A GSTIN for a new business, a new branch, or a threshold you have just crossed. We prepare the application, file it, answer whatever the officer comes back with, and hand you the certificate.

₹199 professional fee

No government fee on this registration

Who needs it

Anyone crossing the turnover threshold, selling across state lines, selling on a marketplace, or being asked for a GSTIN by a customer who cannot claim input credit without one.

The GST portal charges nothing for the registration itself. Our fee is the professional fee for preparing and filing it, and for handling any clarification the officer raises before the GSTIN is issued.

What we need from you

  • PAN and Aadhaar of the proprietor, partners or directors
  • Proof of business address: ownership papers, a rent agreement or an NOC
  • Bank account details or a cancelled cheque
  • Photograph, and the constitution documents for a firm or company

In detail

GST registration

Who actually needs a GSTIN

The turnover thresholds are the usual reason, and they differ for goods and for services, and again in the special category states. But turnover is not the only trigger. Supplying goods across a state line, selling through an e-commerce marketplace, running an e-commerce platform yourself, operating as a casual taxable person at an exhibition, or being liable to pay under reverse charge all require registration whatever your turnover is. Plenty of businesses also register voluntarily, because a customer who cannot claim input credit on your invoice will eventually buy from somebody whose invoice they can claim on.

What we do

We check first whether you need to register at all, and under which scheme, because a composition scheme registration and a regular one lead to very different lives afterwards. Then the application is prepared, verified and filed on the portal. If the officer raises a query, which happens on a large share of applications and usually concerns the address proof, we draft and file the reply. That is inside the fee, not an extra.

Address proof is where applications stall

More GST applications are held up by premises documents than by anything else. A rent agreement in the wrong name, an electricity bill that does not match the address on the agreement, a consent letter without the owner’s identity proof attached: any of these is enough to draw a notice. Send us what you have before you commit and we will tell you what is missing while it is still cheap to fix.

After the GSTIN arrives

Registration is the start of an obligation, not the end of one. Returns fall due monthly or quarterly depending on your scheme and turnover, whether or not you traded in the period, and the late fees accrue per day. We file the registration; returns are separate ongoing work. Ask and we will quote it, or tell you plainly that your accountant should keep it.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

How much does GST registration cost in total?

₹199, and that is the whole of it. The GST portal levies no government fee for a registration, so unlike FSSAI there is nothing payable on top. The ₹199 covers preparing the application, filing it, replying to any clarification raised on it and delivering the GSTIN.

How long does it take to get a GSTIN?

Filing happens within a working day of us having a complete set of documents. What follows is with the department: where no clarification is raised, a GSTIN is usually issued within about a week. Where one is raised, the clock restarts from our reply. We do not control that timeline and will not quote you one as though we did.

Do we need GST registration if our turnover is below the threshold?

Not on turnover grounds alone, but several other triggers apply regardless of turnover, including inter-state supply of goods, selling through an e-commerce marketplace and liability under reverse charge. Many businesses below the threshold also register voluntarily so that their customers can claim input credit. Tell us what you sell and to whom, and we will tell you which of those applies to you.

Can you register an additional place of business or a new branch?

Yes. Adding a branch, a godown or an additional place of business is an amendment to your existing registration rather than a fresh one, and a new state means a separate registration in that state. Send us the details and we will tell you which of the two yours is before you pay anything.

What happens if the application is rejected?

Rejections almost always follow an unanswered or unsatisfactory reply to a clarification, and the usual subject is the premises proof. If it happens we will tell you exactly what the department would not accept and what has to change before it is refiled, rather than refile the same papers and hope.
